FOR FAMILIES

As an expert in Primary and specialist education, LEARNOUT OF THE BOX's holistic academic provision pinpoints learning gaps early on, minimising the need for expensive and sometimes unnecessary diagnostic services and prolonged interventions. Whilst they do not offer a diagnosis, they do identify and provide specific teaching targets in order that a child can catch up with their learning.

Jo's tailored 1:1 teaching programmes for KS1-KS2 are used to provide:

​

  • Support for children with a diagnosis of Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Autism, ADHD & other SpLDs

  • 1:1 specialist support which cannot always be offered in school.

  • Catch-up for those falling behind due to learning gaps, including the pandemic

  • Build up confidence outside school hours

  • A structured bespoke education for children in transition between provisions or special school

  • SEN support for children who are home schooled

  • Extra reinforcement for children over the school holidays 

  • Advisory to child's teachers on how to support them in the classroom

  • Assist parents on how to support their child at home

  • External provision for a child currently out of education due to illness

  • External provision for a child that has been directed by their school for an off-site education

Subject to availability for FAMILIES, Jo administers her assessment from her home throughout the calendar year.

 

Options 1. includes:

​

  • Reviewing completed Family and School Questionnaires

  • Analysing any formal reports

  • Materials & preparations for tailor-made tests

  • A 2-hour Non-diagnostic Academic Assessment covering approximately 20+ tests including the key foundation areas NC English and Maths (KS1-KS2), phonological awareness, verbal, aural and working & short-term memory.

  • Evaluating test results & observation notes

  • Constructing single pages of Test Scores & IEP

  • Post assessment the working document/IEP, test scores and evidence will be given to the family.

An Individual Education Plan or IEP is a school-based document which records, tracks and reviews the support a child with special educational needs receives in school. An IEP is a detailed plan that sets out targets and strategies to help your child learn and is normally reviewed at the end of each school term.

 

For those children with more severe or complex learning needs, my report and evidence can be used as up to date backing in order to support an Educational Health & Care Plan to a Local Authority . 

 

All children with an Educational Health & Care Plan must have an IEP/PEP. Following the introduction of the Children and Families Act 2014, children without a Statement are not required to have an IEP, but schools do still use them.

1:1 specilast teaching programmes

Subject to limited availability, Jo administers an initial assessment combined with a 1:1 personalised multi-sensory teaching programme to meet the specific needs of your child from her home throughout the calendar year.

​Option 2. includes:

​

  • Reviewing completed Family and School Questionnaires

  • Analysing any formal reports

  • Materials & preparations for tailor-made tests

  • A 2-hour Non-diagnostic Academic Assessment covering approximately 20+ tests including the key foundation areas NC English and Maths (KS1-KS2), phonological awareness, verbal, aural and working & short-term memory.

  • Evaluating test results & observation notes

  • Constructing single pages of Test Scores & IEP

  • Planning, preparing and delivering 6-hour 1:1 personalised teaching programme

  • Parental weekly feedback to be shared with school

The targets set are dictated purely by the child's assessment results and not by their current syllabus. Teaching cannot take place without the initial Non-Diagnostic Assessment nor a signed 'Letter of Agreement' and payment in order to secure a booking. For this reason, the sole purpose of the Assessment is to create a Teaching Programme and will only be shared if deemed necessary​.

​

After the combined initial assessment and first 6-hour programme, any teaching programmes fee is at the normal rate.
